Our Housing & Home Ownership team works with our community to encourage asset building and homeownership by rooting this work in our elders’ teachings and Lakota value system. Through this work, we are on the journey of redefining home ownership away from a colonial mindset to being a part of Lakota liberation.
Our team offers classes to train and educate community members to be financially self-sufficient homeowners, whether that means investing in ecologically-sustainable housing on our site or developing a property elsewhere.
Currently, we offer three intensive Financial Liberation classes to our community:
Building Native Communities; Financial Literacy
Credit When Credit is Due
Pathways Home; 1st Time Homebuyers
We also provide credit coaching as a tool to assist and arm our clients with credit knowledge to overcome poor credit and maintain good credit for car loans, home loans and renter’s credit checks. We work hand and hand with families to create a credit building or asset building plan that works for them and their families to ultimately have financial liberation.
