Kevin Killer, a member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux tribe, is the former President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and Coalition of Large Land based Tribes (COLT). He served for 10 years in the South Dakota legislature, representing a district that includes the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Kevin served as the President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and Chairman of the Coalition of Large Land based Tribes (COLT) from 2020-2022, a member of the South Dakota legislature 2008-2018, representing a district that includes the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. As President, he helped leverage $400 million for broadband, roads, a 3-D printed houseless shelter, and economic stabilization grants for individuals of the Oglala Sioux Tribe (51,000).

He is a co-founder of Advance Native Political Leadership, which seeks to train the next generation of Native leaders to run, manage, and lead successful campaigns at all levels of government. He finished his fellowship in 2019 with the Open Society Foundation Leadership in Government program working on Truth, Healing, and Justice in Native communities in the United States. He attended Oglala Lakota College and was the first Tribal College Fellow of a progressive youth leadership development organization, Young People For (YP4). Killer expanded Young People For’s tribal college network into an independent, Native-led organization called the Native Youth Leadership Alliance (NYLA) in 2009. Killer serves on the board of the People for the American Way Foundation (PFAW), National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), the Indian Gaming Association (IGA) and formerly was a member of the Young Elected Officials Network, the Quad Caucus, and the National Caucus of Native American State Legislators. He was a 2015 Bush Fellow.
