Kenyon Andres

Communications Consultant (he/him)

Kenyon is a writer and photographer, whose families settled on Lakota and Dakota lands. Raised in the Missouri River valley and then the Puget Sound, he graduated from Western Washington University in 2018 with a degree in Economics & Political Science and a minor in Latin. He moved to Spearfish, South Dakota at the start of the pandemic to explore his passions for language, identity, and stories, learning about the ways our words shape our worlds. After hearing about the Lakota language classes at Thunder Valley, Kenyon began working as the Advancement Coordinator for the organization, and eventually became the Communications Director, helping with fundraising campaigns, public relations and strategic planning for the Lakota Media Summit. In 2022, Kenyon moved across the world to Aotearoa (New Zealand), where he now travels practicing place-based photography, writing stories of real life and imagined worlds, and studying Māori and Pacifika traditions of oratory and pacifism.
