Our Food Sovereignty Coordinator, Brandon Big Eagle is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. He was born in Pierre, SD but grew up in the Crow Creek reservation, where his father is an enrolled member. He attended and graduated from Highmore-Harrold High School in 2014 and later pursued a degree from Black Hills State University. He has a passion for farming as he grew up around and later worked at Bowers Distillery, one of the largest Mint farms in the United States. He hopes to continue the work of those before him in creating and demonstrating a sovereign food system in the Pine Ridge Reservation.
