DeCora Hawk

Lakota Advocacy Center Director

DeCora Hawk uses her BA in Lakota Studies with emphasis on Indian law and her MLS in Indigenous Law (summa and magna cum laude respectively) in her community engagement work, activating the grassroots to lead in changing policy and meet the needs of the Oyate. Having been the Director of Community Engagement for years, she is particularly proud of expanding the vision and role of the Community Engagement team to go beyond events, creating a network of relatives ready to make change in their districts. From the start of the pandemic her role expanded to include coordinating the delivery of essential cleaning products and food to elders across the Reservation in a time of increased isolation.

DeCora is an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and proud mother of two. She was born and raised in Mni Luzahan, so-called Rapid City, South Dakota.
